So very many blessings
I don't know if you all know my dear friend Mrs. Miles (aka Barb). If not you should take a chance to stop by her blog. It's filled with inspiring stories and some wonderful photos and scrapbooking. She has often been an inspiration to me over the past couple of years. (Love you girl!) Well last year she made me realize I could do something to change the life of one special child and so I'm now a sponsor through Compassion International for a cute little guy in Ethiopia. As you may know it takes a few months for our letters to go back and forth and to be translated. Well this weekend I got his thank you card for the Christmas gift we sent him. We gave him $30 for him to buy whatever he needed, he chose a mattress. A mattress. He wanted to have somewhere soft to sleep rather than on the floor, he shares it with his siblings. We also bought a new mattress for Christmas and it cost a lot more than his did, it reminded me how very much we all have. All the wonderful blessings that seem to have been heaped upon us. Our country is going through some hard times right now but how many of us can at least claim to have a nice comfy soft place to sleep on? Enough food to eat? Shelter over our heads? Access to medical services? Just remember when times are looking a little bleak and you may be feeling those pennies being pinched how blessed you truly are. And let's not forget those who are lacking so much in their lives. Do you have the $32 a month to spare to make a difference in a young child's life? Click HERE to take a look at all those in need. Can't afford a regular payment? Then click HERE to donate a couple of dollars to Compassion International's 12 general usage funds. Take a look at where the money goes and realize how far they make that $32 a month stretch for each child in their care. Still want to make a difference but at no cost? Go to Free Rice and earn grains of rice from the sponsors to donate through United Nations World Food Program just by answering some trivia questions. We can all take part in stopping poverty. So as we continue this season of Lent think of all the wonderful blessings you have and how you can make a difference in the lives of others.

Free Rice is a great way to not only help others, but expand your vocabulary. And of course, in a competitive spirit, I stayed at 41 and donated over 800 grains of rice.
Also, if they want to help others they could check out the Health and Hunger sections of Click to Give.
Oh Amy - you have brung me to tears. I think it goes BOTH ways. You truly don't know the ministry you've always been to me. How I long for the days when we can actually CHAT again. You will have to let me know when we can do this.
Re: compassion... another GREAT thing - which I TOTALLY forget to do sometimes, is that we can write a letter to our compassion child ON THE INTERNET. Yes, through the website we can do this and they will deliver. How cool is this?
I got great delight out of making my own little cards for our girl... using her own photo and then embellishing it.
Thank you for your loving, compassionate heart, my friend.
I ♥ you too
Barb

((HUGS)) Stop by the garden sometime.
That's so great that you have sponsored through Compassion. I do too and I've been blessed in so many ways. Seems like we have other things in common like scrapbooking :)
God Bless,
Noelia
That's a great thing to do, Amy. We are blessed and sometimes we need a reminder of how lucky we are.
